This art form comes from Mexico, and the Otomi & Nahua people. They create the paper by hand,
like their ancestors did long, long ago. Birds, animals, flowers, plants, and scenes from everyday life, make up the subject matter in their art, which is very bright and colorful! Watch the video. Look at the examples, or search for your own examples. Create an amate bark painting.

*Watch the video on the paper-making process in Mexico. We are going to use brown paper as a substitute for the actual amate paper. Then follow the process to the right --------------------------->> Materials: 1 piece of brown paper (paper bag is fine) Pencil to draw the outline Fine-point marker to outline the drawing Any medium of coloring you choose: Crayons Colored pencils Markers Paint Oil pastels *If you bring your completed project to school, I will give you a piece of candy.*
